Casarva Honda X11 Chain Drive Trike
This came to us as a trike already – albeit one the owner was extremely unhappy with.
We stripped away all the old back end and replaced it with the Casarva Chain Drive conversion with a reverse chain gearbox. The owner who is a left leg amputee needed to be able to carry his non-collapsible wheelchair and keep it dry. We made a waterproof carrier (made from car soft-top material) which is waterproof, resilient and light. This is mounted into a Cascara designed mounting which also has a Givi top box fitted to the top.
Wheels are 17″ Gloss Black / Polished Wolfrace Assassins with 205 tyres and Casarva Bobbed and Frenched mudguards fitted with combination 6″ LED stop tail and indicator lights.
The trike had new Kliktronic electronic gearshifter and twin brake levers (K2 levers) fitted both supplied by supplied by The NABD
The result is a totally usable fast trike – that handles like all Casarva Trikes – very well
What is Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) on a trike?
Casarva IRS (independent Rear Suspension) trikes handle better and and are more comfortable to ride than those with a solid axles. The tyres stay planted in the road surface giving you maximum control if the road gets a little tricky because each side has its own suspension system which are connected by an anti-roll bar made in spring steel. This assists the shock absorbers in keeping the rear end planted, reduces rider shock and assists with steering.
The drive line irrespective of being shaft, chain or belt driven, has a differential which allows the wheels to turn independently of each other via half shafts which have been tailor made to each trike and there are options on the track width and wheelbase length to make sure that the trike is set up to be the best it can be. Tyres and wheel size are selected to works best with each trike – one size definitively does not fit all not fit all.
