The Kawasaki ZX10 “Tomcat” has a reputation as a great bike in the 80’s and has become one of the iconic sports bikes of all time.
Kawasaki’s in-line 4 cylinder motor is strong and is mounted on the Kawasaki E Box frame. So proud of it were they that they added a decal to the fairing to emphasise it. So when we were asked to convert this bike icon we decided to elongate the E Box up to the trike conversion and you can see from the photos that’s exactly what we have done.
The chain drive IRS conversion was powder coated in silver to match the bike and the mudguards painted in the original red, white and metallic grey of the bike.
We painted the rear wheels white to match the front and fitted a set of K2 twin brake levers ( supplied by charity The National Association for Bikers with a Disablity (NABD)) to the handlebars, locking off the rear brake pedal and added a Hepco & Becker rack and top case to add a bit of storage and
The result is what you see here.
The drive line irrespective of being chain, shaft or belt driven, has a differential which allows the wheels to turn independently of each other via half shafts which have been tailor made to each trike and there are options on the track width and wheelbase length to make sure that the trike is set up to be the best it can be. Tyres and wheel size are selected to works best with each trike – one size definitively does not fit all not fit all.
