Casarva Yamaha XV1100 Virago IRS Trike
Shaft Drive Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) trike conversion to a Yamaha Virago XV1100.
This bike was imported and was completely rust free and will be seeing duty as the owners main form of transport underlining the popularity and longevity of this older shaft drive Vee-Twin
The seat was reupholstered in grippy main covering and profiled for the customer
The mudguards were painted to match the maroon of the original bike and have LED stop tail / Indicators mounted and front facing white marker lights, Casarva 4″ Slash Cut Mirror Polished stainless steel silencers give a great tone and were rerouted in stainless tube with mirror polished heat shields where necessary
What is Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) on a trike?
Casarva IRS (independent Rear Suspension) trikes handle better and and are more comfortable to ride than those with a solid axles. The tyres stay planted in the road surface giving you maximum control if the road gets a little tricky because each side has its own suspension system which are connected by an anti-roll bar made in spring steel. This assists the shock absorbers in keeping the rear end planted, reduces rider shock and assists with steering.
The drive line irrespective of being chain, belt or shaft, has a differential which allows the wheels to turn independently of each other via half shafts which have been tailor made to each trike and there are options on the track width and wheelbase length to make sure that the trike is set up to be the best it can be. Tyres and wheel size are selected to works best with each trike – one size definitively does not fit all not fit all.
