Shown here without the panniers (they still do fit) The R1200RT is a smart and comfortable cruising trike.
Originally the road speed sensor works off the internal gears of the bikes rear drive (which is no longer there) and this also tell the ABS unit on the bike whats going on. So to remedy this we have fitted a Casarva reluctor ring and re-positioned the Halls sensor to that which accurately restores the speedometer and make sure the ABS is not showing an error. The ABS operates on the rear but only on one wheels as the ECU would not know what to make of two wheels sending messages to it! Its an example of how we can solve problems properly.
Casarva IRS (independent Rear Suspension) trikes handle better and and are more comfortable to ride than those with a solid axles. The tyres stay planted in the road surface giving you maximum control if the road gets a little tricky because each side has its own suspension system which are connected by an anti-roll bar made in spring steel. This assists the shock absorbers in keeping the rear end planted, reduces rider shock and assists with steering.
The drive line irrespective of being chain, belt or shaft (like this Casarva BMW R1200RT trike), has a differential which allows the wheels to turn independently of each other via half shafts which have been tailor made to each trike and there are options on the track width and wheelbase length to make sure that the trike is set up to be the best it can be. Tyres and wheel size are selected to works best with each trike – one size definitively does not fit all not fit all.
